I wasn't nervous just apprehensive. I feel free and empowered.

Exactly.
I haven't wore a mask ever since the pandemic started, not even once, and I've been asked to put a mask on maybe 3 or 4 times. Two of these times, they were persistent with me needing to wear a mask and I tried to explain to them that the state's mask mandate policy made me exempt from wearing one and they said they don't care. I wear it or else. I chose the "else" part by leaving their business and will not visit them ever again.
The many times I've gone into an establishment, they didn't ask me to put one on. This is why I've been telling people on TD.W, here and IRL: Just walk in without one and see what happens. The worse they can do is tell you to put one on and you can just say, "No thanks" and walk past them. That's what I did that one time I walked into Meijer's and someone told me to put one on and I shook my head and said, "No thanks" and walked toward the food aisle. Waited a while and looked around. No one came after me to tell me to put one on. So they're just there to be the "gatekeeper" but an awful one at that.
Remember, animals are just as afraid of you as you are of them when approaching them but they will attack you when you threaten them. Don't threaten them, just ignore them and walk by. Be polite along the way and the gatekeepers will be afraid to confront you because you're too nice to be argued with.
Take it from me, been doing this since the pandemic started and I haven't complied to their Nihilistic demands.
Just walk in without one, be cool and carry on. Say "No thanks sir/madam" and smile while walking toward your destination in the store. You'd be glad you did it and realize how easy it is doing so.
