People spend tons and tons of money on something just to feel different for the day/night. But once the next day comes around, reality strikes back and we are left feeling crappy, aka a hangover. Even worse, society pushes through advertising on how "great" it is through luxurious marketing. When really, there is nothing about it that makes it awesome. This is only my honest opinion on this commodity. I respect everyone's opinion as each individual is different in their own unique way. It was always something I thought recently after being awakened to the world at large.
If this seems like a doomer post, I offer my sincere apologies as that was never my intention!
Alcohol causes one to be PRESENT, aka "buzz", which temporarily dampens one's awareness of time (past/future) and the voice of fear/doubt/worry/guilt/etc.
The state of PRESENCE is our natural state, when the "monkey-mind" is silenced. In this state, happiness/joy/peace/ease arises.
Said state arises naturally when we simply stop trying to do anything and relax into the "now moment".
Alcohol artificially brings the same during that brief window of "peak buzz". It's a poor substitute in the long run, but for those unaware of allowing this state to arise naturally, it's a welcome retreat from that incessant voice in the head (aka "satan") regularly reminding us of all our past failures and future worries.
You can substitute the words "Meditation", "Zen", "Communion", "Witnessing" for "Presence". All are one and the same concept pointing to our natural state of awareness. It's literally the act of "Non-doing", akin to "falling asleep", something that simply happens in the absence of "trying".
