Same with bay area. I lived in bay area around the same time and I used to visit san francisco regularly. The whole place was so amazing and I had a wonderful experience. Over the years I keep visiting and I can see the marked decline - bay area specifically, but everything else. This decline was really steep during the Hussein years. A lot of my local friends didnt even seem to notice the deterioration.
