" There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job.
If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper,
before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of
the journalist is to destroy the truth; to lie outright; to pervert; to
vilify; to fawn at the feet of mammon, and to sell the country for his
daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting
an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of the rich men
behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and
we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the
property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes. "

Opinions whether truth or not never should be involved in journalism -- just FACTS.
A long time ago the evil DS cabal infiltrated the press because one of our Constitutional rights is a Freedom of the Press along with Freedom of Speech. So they knew they could infiltrate speech and turn it to their bidding.
Then Obama made it outright legal to lie in the press/media. IMO that's tantamount to making it legal to yell fire in a crowded movie theater.
The days of independent journalism reporting truth is largely an illusion. The concept was created by Marxists and promoted by John Dewey. It's no accident that Clark Kent was a news reporter, "Truth, Justice, and the American Way." That is were this whole idea of the press being the "fifth estate" comes from. The press has always existed to promote politics. It started with the pamphleteers. It was all very open with papers identifying what the stood for. That's why we have papers call "The Republic" and "The Democrat".
The statisist, e.g. Democrats, have always had the money, just like today. By the end of the 1800s, they had bought up almost all of the press, and journalism schools became houses of leftist indoctrination. "Go west young man" was part if a campaign by Socialists to get young idealistic lefties to move to the western territories so that they would be leftist when the became states. That's why we have the left coast.
The GOD of Heaven's Army, popped a red pill in my mouth before I was born. I have always hated socialism as far back as could remember. I'm also autistic and think in topology and pictures. Whe I was 11, I started to deliver the newspaper. I would read it every day. This was while the Vietnam War was waging. What I read was so obviously a distortion of truth that it had to be deliberate and in my mind evil. Btw, I had my first argument with my leftie mom over politics about this time.
This started my interest in journalism and it's role in society. I have been studying it intently ever since.
So in the current paradigm it appears that Freedom OF Speech is also Freedom FROM Speech - if that speech is claimed to be offensive.
Kinda odd, the things I find offensive - racial hatred (BLM, La Raza), anit-American sloganeering (esp from members of Congress), blasphemy(everywhere in the general society) - these are not assessed to be offensive but are legitimate expressions that help raise critical issues.
