Yeah, I think people need to have solid contracts drawn up by experienced lawyers, before taking part in any media pieces of any kind, no matter how its characterised. Only a very naive person would go and do interviews with no control over how that info is presented. Ron should really know better, and hence I am thinking he got it all covered.
