But what if they go to the hospital and they are dead but the hospital says "we don't think it had anything to do with the vaccine," as they do every time I read a story about this kind of thing. Would that show up in that 3/1000?
Yes, every serious side effect suffered and reported is included in the 3/1000. These are the uninvestigated numbers, so it's quite likely the 3/1000 even includes reactions that had nothing to do with the vaccines.
Can you give me a link to this number of 3/1000 and where it is coming from?
It came from that recent study in the UK, I'll see if I can find it again.
"Part of our monitoring role includes reviewing reports of suspected side effects. Any member of the public or health professional can submit suspected side effects through the Yellow Card scheme. The nature of Yellow Card reporting means that reported events are not always proven side effects. Some events may have happened anyway, regardless of vaccination. This is particularly the case when millions of people are vaccinated, and especially when most vaccines are being given to the most elderly people and people who have underlying illness.
This safety update report is based on detailed analysis of data up to 28 February 2021. At this date, an estimated 10.7 million first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and 9.7 million doses of the Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine had been administered, and around 0.8 million second doses, mostly the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, had been administered. This represents an increase of 2.8 million on the previous week.
As of 28 February 2021, for the UK, 33,207 Yellow Cards have been reported for the Pfizer/BioNTech, 54,180 have been reported for the Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine, and 251 have been reported where the brand of the vaccine was not specified.
For both vaccines the overall reporting rate is around 3 to 6 Yellow Cards per 1,000 doses administered."

The above quote is a few paragraphs down on that page.
Before I read the study, I just want to point out one other thing. They are going to want kids to get this virus, and Moderna is doing trials with 6 month olds - 11 year old kids. These kids are virtually immune to covid. Then you've got 28 year olds dropping dead from it, when they were at almost zero risk. So regardless of anything, I STILL don't think this vaccine is worth it for younger people. Why even take a .0001 chance of being fucked up by this vaccine when the coronavirus is nothing either.
