I only wear my Old Glory gaiter or bandanas, and I only wear them when ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED. Even at work, I keep them lowered around my neck and only raise them when I have to deal with or otherwise come within proximity of a customer.
My husband is required to wear it at work, so he buys the cheap neck gaitors and cuts them so it's just a flap of fabric that hangs from his nose to cover his mouth as well. He looks like I dream of genie, which is hilarious, but at least he can breathe just fine. Just a tip if you're looking to get more air.

I also refer to them as muzzles, it really trips people up.
