yeah .... this push to lower the voting age is everywhere. In my country, they did elections on schools. Result: VVD was the winner, overwhelmingly. Meaning, the school going youth between 16 and 18 is deeply brainwashed. Despite their access to internet, all they seem to see is the MSN and group pressure is high. Outliers are usually from families where critical view of the government is being taught and discussed.
This also says something about the quality of family life.
This system we live in, where both parents are working to earn a living to provide for their families, and kids from a very young age (2 and above) are dropped at pre-school facilities, etc, does not help in generating a healthy critical attitude.
In other words, to maintain in power, to need to change the rules. The only thing fortunate in this mess is the fact they have not yet done so.
Then the more based in our societies have a chance of protecting the rights we cherish.
