reddit, if not originally CIA, was quickly subjugated by the CIA.
I have myself convinced that site was simply a way to get people off Usenet ... Usenet is hard to censor. If the group is run by a tyrant, a new one can be created in a matter of seconds w/o having to worry about the tyrant going to some site owners (Usenet is 100% distributed ... no need for a centralized platform). It basically has built in checks and balances.
Reddit, clearly, is not in the business of free, uncensored speech. The Deep State was more than likely sickened that the peasants worldwide had a way to discuss anything anonymously (for the most part) on Usenet. They needed something to get people off there and onto something they could control.
Hell, 3/4 of social media could be run on Usenet if the goal is free speech and connecting ... I think the only 'difficult' thing would be coming up with an easy to use front end that would look more like a social media site. Private messaging could use IRC. It's like all of them reinvented the wheel to maintain control of the internet. Sad.
