There was a Chabadic Rabbi --- he knew my parents. He shared my politics (though he tried to keep politics out of his work)
He said something pretty profound: People rationalize, and don't really change their deep beliefs, even if they are wrong, by facts or argument.
What makes them change is a shock to the system. When they see something they just can't rationalize.
I'm sure many of us hoped the Steal would be the shock to our Liberal relatives, but that wasn't the case.
It's also why many people talk about their Red-pill moment.
