I've said it before: The founders were entirely against political parties. Consider: if there was but ONE "party"....that of the Constitution, what would the opposing party be? anti-Constitution? Either they are elected to uphold and obey the Constitution or they are traitors. WE DO NOT NEED PARTIES.

No parties would be ideal, but the public is a long, long way from being able to get to that point. One step at a time.
The public is a LOOOOOOOOONG way from everything, unfortunately.
