I was once doing a concert in Deep Ellum (used to be the cool part of Dallas -- those days are long gone). After the show, an older couple from out of town asked me what there is to do in Dallas for fun. I smiled at them and told them to go to Fort Worth.
I'm from the midcities, but still in Dallas County. We've always driven the extra 15 miles to go into Fort Worth instead of Dallas. You run into very few homeless people, the streets are clean, and there is good, clean entertainment at night, instead of the trashy nightclubs in Dallas. I am a bit biased though, because I'm a honky-tonk kinda guy, and those are few and far between in Dallas.
Theres SO much more to Fort Worth than the honky tonk in the stockyards area....Sundance Square is full of great bars, shops, restuarants, and entertainment spots
