As I am a practicing Catholic, my dear friend and neighbor was concerned about offending me whenever corruption in the Church came up. Like you, Franscioni77, she could not imagine why my husband and I did not leave the Catholic Church. I told her that I would no sooner leave my church due to corruption of some members and leaders than she would leave the United States of America due to corruption of some members/leaders. Why do you think the Free Masons have worked for so long to infiltrate and bring down the Catholic Church? Perhaps because it is Christ's church on earth, and the devil vowed to destroy it. I accept that there have been bad popes, cardinals, bishops, priests, other religious, deacons, and laity. But there are also good people in all those roles. The Catholic Church may have been involved in a lot of evil, but it has also been involved in a lot of good. Most people who hate the Catholic Church hate what they think it is or stands for, not what it actually is. Catholics DO commit their lives to Christ, same as members of other Christian religions.
Agree to disagree. If we are all trying to live as Jesus taught, then we have more in common than differences. May the Peace of Christ be with your spirit.

I’ve always looked for a good metaphor to explain this to people, and you hit it right on the head.
If I’m not going to give up on America, I’m definitely not going to give up on the Church.
