Yep, we did what we had to do, the willing and the unwilling. USMC - I Corps, 1967-1969. The VA has been good to me since then, I get new tires for my "Rolling Thunder Chair" every year too.
I wore a POW bracelet in high school in 1970 until it finally cracked and I had to take it off. Wore it about 4-5 yrs. Went to DC for the first time in 2000 specifically to see the Vietnam Memorial. Bought another bracelet. Been wearing it ever since.
With any luck they will find him or his remains. I bought from a Marine stand and they have the bracelets numbered, you fill out a little form with your contact into and if they find any news of him they notify you!
I am a Vietnam vet, USMC. I didn't know there was a National Vietnam Veterans day. Spent most of '68 and the 1st quarter in Danang. Heh, learn something new every day. Yeah Yeah, I'm an old Boomer, but not a Doomer.
Thank you to any and all of you on here for your service. From the daughter of a Vietnam Vet and named by his Platoon whilst in the thick of it. Not everyone can say their name was drawn from a helmet in Nam :) Thankful and Blessed that my Dad made it home to finally meet me.
Often I have compared the men of yesterday's wars (i.e. the 15 year old soldiers & marines who served in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI) -v- the smarmy little boys of today who are clueless as to what sacrifice is thanks to public schools, the destruction of the family and stupid parents.
It seems to me anything I can say is so damn inadequate. Your uncle is a hero. I know you know that. Patriots feel that way about most of our military.
God bless you and yours sir!

I do hope it lasts you forever. Although 30 years does seem like forever sometimes.

Thank you! I wasn't aware of anything like that. Tonight I will look at buying one and praying for the lost remains.
THANK YOU!!!

And their average age was 19. Think about that for one minute.
