No helmet, but at least he's wearing a mask! I will never understand why I continue to see this frequently.

True. Most of the time I don't wear a helmet while cycling especially if I'm not in heavy traffic but just the idea that someone will prioritize a mask which does nothing to keep you safe over a helmet which can potentially keep you safe is idiotic.
I appreciate your point, I assert that the helmet has as much chance to prevent injury as the mask. Its possible that a helmet may even increase chance of injury.
Bicycle helmets are very weak protection for any injury that would cause actual damage. On the other hand they restrict vision, hearing and head movement. Not a lot, but a little bit. If they provide basically no real protection, but do restrict senses and movement, what is the probability they are ever worth wearing?
I'll take my chances with my awareness over a potential bump on the head (the only severity of injury they might protect against).
I honesty think bicycle helmets are in the same vein as masks. They are a form of fear mongering, designed to control the population.
I don't know about that. My grandfather was in a bicycle crash almost 2 years ago and ended up in the hospital for a few weeks. The first week he didn't know who his wife, kids, or who my brother was. Eventually the swelling in the brain went down and now he's completely normal but this was with a helmet. If he wasn't wearing one I think he might be dead or permanently handicapped. Did the helmet make it worse than if he wasn't wearing one? Maybe. Who knows. But it's also possibly that it saved him from being a human potato and almost as bad as Joe Biden.
Conceded point.
I'm only going by the statistical data that I've seen and my own experiences (and the experiences of the many other people I know who ride regularly).
Fair enough. I appreciate the data you shared and the point you made. I'll be researching the effectiveness/ ineffectiveness of bicycle helmets because you got me curious. Thanks ?
