I understand it's better to be self sufficient but buying products cheaper is also a benefit.
It's better in central America than China, it will hit China's economy hard.
It will take a lot of changes to produce in America that the left will always be against and fight back against.
Especially in regards to the climate agenda.
Also the costs of the products will Increase as your paying American employment rates for the products.
And there's nothing wrong in helping foreign countries earning a living especially if they're your neighbours.
No country could viably ever be 100% self sufficient. Sure it's possible, but that comes at a cost. We don't have a terrific track record when it comes to "helping" central and south American countries...I understand your concern about product pricing but that's more relative and is dependent upon more than just simply where the product is made. If taxes and regulations were eased here then that burden would be lightened on producers which in turn would not be passed on to consumers. Labor is made expensive by government, not employers and has a paradoxical effect on employees. Look at how wage floors work, you don't need to be a producer to see that fallacy. If American companies want to produce goods outside of America, they should be for consumption in those countries. Not made to be brought here and then undercut those who produce here and can't afford to offshore the production. At the present time does it cost more to buy American? Yeah, it does but I'm more concerned about helping people in my country create, maintain or grow their business. That isn't to say if there were some unique good created in another country not offered here that I would refuse to buy it for the same reason I mentioned.
