Was he surprised when it was whispered in his ear while he was reading to the school kids, or was he being notified HIS plan had been completed?

IMO he knew something was up but he didn't know when or exactly what. That way when they inform him in public when he hears the "news" his surprise will be more genuine.

I haven't seen it since, but when it went down I saw video where it looked like he was biting the inside of his cheek to stop from smiling during such a serious event. After all, they just got away with "losing" a trillion dollars and whatever else was going to go down.
