Qell said pede, exactly right. Prepping for the worst is an absolute must, always be ready for it. Now letting it scare you into a state where you cannot function as normal is what I would consider dooming. I don't think of dooming as just pointing out negative stuff, but rather focusing an immense amount of energy on it and spreading it amongst your peers.
