I've been keeping eyes on the Ever Given situation periodically throughout the day. It's just after 3:30 am, Egypt local time, and the Great Bitter Lake is once again empty, just Big Green herself.....and HALKI, a bulk container ship which has been stationed just off the EG's stern (about .2 nm away) for the past two hours. At least, that's how she appears to be stationed. Her status is "under way", but her future track seems to be locked down. Any experienced boatfags out there able to shed any light on this weirdness?

Yes ships use transponders to communicate their location just like planes and they can turn them off especially military ships
There's currently one US Military ship declaring its position at the northbound exit of the canal, out in the Med. The ARCTIC. I don't know its function.
Okay now that's interesting
USNS ARCTIC is an oiler. T-AOE. My guess is it's the duty oiler for the Med because IKE is in 5th Fleet, through the Suez.
