I am extremely disheartened by the loss of friends and professionals from my life for whom I have a lot of respect. Many of them are decades-long friends or colleagues who have been nothing short of consummate professionals.
I had an argument with someone whom I thought to be very smart over my worries about the new vaccine. I'm neither anti-vaxx nor pro-vaxx but prefer waiting until it's safe before taking it. But he, like many others, start throwing labels like "You don't care about public health" or "you're drinking the Kool-Aid".
It's annoying how so many people are so willing to embrace "science" and not question it when the very point of science is to question everything.
It's really sad knowing I'll probably never work with these excellent people again.
How are you doing? How are you coping?
I just basically told my mom if we are to have any relationship at all we can’t even talk about religion or Gospel in addition to politics and our new world of Covid . She is active in our church but still supports everything liberal. She asked me why I have to get so mad and do I only talk to people who agree with me. Of course I don’t but I’m not going to just argue with people when there is no way to change their mind and they won’t change mine. I don’t get angry per say just disappointed and sad that we don’t value the same things. I told her exactly that, I can’t tell her much about anything because we disagree in how we interpret gospel and prophets. I can’t tell her about the people I met yesterday because it was because we were maskless. Even my kids! I can’t go visit my family in Az because we can’t drive 3 days and the airlines won’t let us fly with my special needs son. She can’t just sympathize with me, no she defends it. She defends it all.
In my opinion it used to make sense to talk to the other side before things got this crazy but lines have been crossed, stealing an election, forcing masks onto people, destroying economies, talking about vaccine passports, etc are acts of war and you don't talk to the enemy in war.
May God bless you fren. "Let the dead bury the dead."
