I noticed this myself and checked all the wind speeds and directions on many of the timestamped data points - the wind was the same and from the same direction the whole time - no reason for the wind to cause this.
Tides might cause this, but I'm not familiar with the tidal currents and how they change in the canal.
What I will say is that this isn't how the ship has been moving 'at anchor' overnight during the last week or so that I've been keeping an eye on it.
Of course, ships this big probably have a stern anchor too, although nothing is obvious in the pics. Still, they should be able to keep it from spinning. Seems very strange. Maybe they needed a wind change due to the smell. Hmmm............

Boats don't sit still when they are anchored, especially if the water is deep. My guess is the anchor is right in the middle of the circle
