This last term is perhaps the most important. It depends on what you intend to defend yourself from.
If you’re thinking about people then, with the exception of an ATC granted for such a purpose, the answer is absolutely not. Unlike our neighbours to the south, Canada does not allow it’s citizens to carry – or even own – firearms for the purpose of self defence against human beings with many people opting to use other forms of self defence like pepper spray to make them feel safe.
They often use things like Guardian pepper spray reviews to ensure that they get the best spray for their safety situation.
If, however, you own firearms for a legitimate purpose – such as target practice or hunting – and you choose to employ them in a self defence situation against a person, and whether or not you would be considered righteous in court, is a can of worms that I am neither qualified nor willing to open. Suffice it to say that, at best, it would be a painful process.
THIS. I was obliquely referring to the above. If you're afraid to be found with that firearm or afraid to defend yourself with it against people - basically, you don't have any firearms.
See. I kinda trolled you and I apologize but I see a lot of you Canadiens SWEARING -oH - WE have GUNS.
But - REALLY?
No. You don't.
By the technicals - sure, you have firearms.
ALSO by the technicals, the mere presence of their being there means ZERO - it's like you don't have them and anyone who wants to, can do what ever they want to you, your wife, your mom, your children - and if you do anything to stop it with those firearms, they'll put YOU in jail.
So basically you people are the ULTIMATE tamed, de-balled, CUCKS.
They let you keep the metal object - and make YOU realize YOU'D better not try to use it to save yourself from government sanctioned crime.
It's government sanctioned when they TELL you that you don't have permission to STOP it.
So I admit I was kinda trolling and I do apologize it's an unkind thing, but then - I KNEW someone such as yourself would come along and try to fake it, and tell half truths, and just- LIE.

And you did, whether you admit that, or not.
