Usually, an anticoagulant drug called heparin is used to treat blood clots. In this setting, administration of heparin may be dangerous, and alternative treatments need to be given.
Why is it "dangerous" in this setting? The thing that cures it, apparently cant be administered. Notice how they dont explain why it's dangerous in this setting; probably because it actually works.
According to Wikipedia—so other research may be needed to confirm—it can create heparin induced thrombocytopenia, which will create more clots and blood vessel damage. There are apparently alternative medications if it develops due to platelet levels being too low, but I guess that might be the reason. HIT

yikes. blood clot medicine may cause more blood clots
thats counter productive lol
Heparin is a blood thinner and they are worried you could bleed out. It’s kind of a nasty drug.
