Some of the higher ups in the confederacy (such as Robert E. Lee) were actually against slavery and were fighting to protect states' rights from the increasingly large federal government. The confederacy had its fair share of sins but so did the Union. The CSA's constitution was also practically identical to ours.
The civil war was a very complex conflict and the history has largely been rewritten to demonize the confederates as traitors. One of my favorites is Gettysburg, which presents the confederates as human beings who wanted to govern their lives differently.
What I have noticed over the past few years is just how severe the gaslighting/cognitive dissonance is. I have been seeing a large amount of memes that take headlines from the same publication and they have headlines that completely contradict each other or deny basic reality.
A couple of examples being the crazy conspiracy about microchips, then one year later the same paper says that covid chips will be good, or the one saying adrenochrome and blood drinking is a conspiracy, then a cover story about how young blood will prevent aging?
I did some experiments myself on google. I'd find an article talking about how agenda 21 is a "conspiracy theory" RIGHT UNDERNEATH the official text on the UN's website. I found an article talking about how the great reset isn't real RIGHT ABOVE the world economic forum's page on it. Can't make this stuff up!
But people believe it! I genuinely pity anyone who is not mentally strong enough to withstand constant gaslighting, because it is literally a form of psychological torture. Then again it's not much more comforting when you know it's happening to you, either.
Actually, I agree with them on purging the .Republican Party. We need to purge the Democrats as well, but at least the Dems are honest about hating us and the Constitution.
