This is kind of dumb imo. Caduceus is actually symbolic of Mercury god of merchants and thieves. The real medical symbol is called the Rod of Asclepius which is a singular snake around the staff.

Came here to say this. That said, many medical companies DO use the caduceus, such that the rod of asclepius is used more in hospitals and actual medical practices, while caduceus is used by for-profit companies. At least in my experience
