As of yesterday my Town ended it's mask mandate as of today my county ended its mask mandate. I went to couple of places to see what people were doing. The first place removed the signs saying mask were required. Most people were still wearing a mask. For the most part they had no problem with my wife and I not wearing a mask. We remained very polite keeping our distance from anyone wearing a mask. Not a huge distance but enough for them to feel comfortable. I had my grandson in a stroller and two people wearing a mask come over to us to look at him. We talked for a very short time about grandchildren and went our separate ways. (that in itself is something positive. Before people were afraid to talk to strangers) I wanted them to know that people not wearing mask are not evil people that don't care about older people. Not by talking about it but by living it. One of the workers said something that was a little sharp to us. We had walked up to the front of the line without walking around to follow the signs to the front. In other words we cut in front of everybody. The thing is nobody was on line. I knew what was happening but I just smiled. One of the other workers who was not wearing a mask just looked at us and said don't worry about it with a shake of her head and a smile.. The second store which was a national big box store with a nationwide mask requirement still had a sign on the door that said in effect the local town requires that masks are worn Well of course I walked in without a mask. Here again most people were wearing a mask. There were no issues. I honestly think that most people are still afraid of the virus but don't want to wear the mask and are not sure what to do I was upset at first to see so many people wearing a mask but after dwelling on it I think I have to give them a little time to adjust. I just want to encourage everyone here. We have been looking at this stuff for quite a while now. Most people do not have a clue. When the mandates are lifted give them a chance to do a little catchup. They are not the enemy. Have a great weekend all.
