The US is fortunate to have a strong foundation of freedom and patriotism. Your national story has been infused into most of you since birth, and it’s the cultural bedrock on which you’ve been able to stand on through all of this this.
Most of the world is different. We Canadians have our own story where we’re smarter and more compassionate than the big, bad greedy Americans because we have government healthcare and social programs. As they retrench to their bedrock values they expect more government action. It actually fuels the problem. We’re at the point where 80% of Canadians don’t even see an opposing view to neo-liberalism. I don’t see any way out of this Marxist death spiral apart from a US led initiative.
