We absolutely should take every opportunity to help others, but sometimes we need to recognise that there are people who need to vent. Sometimes it can come across as patronising which elicits a negative response which makes helping them harder.
Sucks, but that's what I'm seeing a lot of these days.

I mean trying to help people who are just venting can come across as patronising.
I'm not suggesting we don't call it out, but helping them 'see the error of their ways' can come across poorly, especially on social media.

I called this guy out, didn't react to his insults, notice how his responses calmed down to the point where he just made a joke.
Did it help him? I don't know, but it certainly took the edge off his posts.
