The fatal police shooting stats can be compared with our criminal justice system in general. Our system makes it VERY hard to convict someone of a crime, resulting in a lot of guilty people going free, and very, very, few being wrongly convicted. These shooting stats show that police, in general, provide protection for an extremely large percentage of the population, with only a very, very, small number being even POSSIBLY shot when innocent.
Unless an anonymous person says you chained your child up in the basement. Then they show up at midnight, find it a complete lie, and take your children anyway. Or someone calls you in for having more than six children, or for homeschooling them.
