Well, when I was sailing on a US Navy cruiser in the mid 60s, we went from Japan to Australia then to San Diego-partway there, the ship moved in a way that would confirm the cubist earth-but we found out later it was an emergency flank speed hard a port move in response to Gulf of Tonkin "incident"... WHEW!!! ;)
