How do you navigate between people who woke up or just think they woke up because their feelings wound up on this side of the fence?
There are many people who support the GA but only by chance. Their actions and words don’t align with the values they claim to have.
Values lie at the epicentre of our decision making processes, and all of us will prioritise our values differently - hence the reason why few people will ever agree on what the ultimate meaning of life is.
It’s our values ‘being met’ that make life meaningful for us, and likewise, those who don’t take time to study their values (and understand them) can wind up spending many years in a perpetual loop of unfulfillment and dissatisfaction.
Maturity is achieved when a person postpones immediate pleasures for long-term values.
Those who prioritise happiness before all things, often miss out on the greater satisfactions that result from attaining purposeful progress in life (in relationships, business, impact etc).
???Peace of mind comes about when our life is in complete alignment with sensible principles and meaningful values - and in no other way. ???
Meh. Some of what you said is good, some is pure tosh.
Which parts were tosh?
"It's our values 'being met' that make life meaningful for us."
And
"Peace of mind comes about when our life is in complete alignment with sensible principles and meaningful values - and in no other way."
Tosh.
I disagree. Do you know what your values are? Do you self reflect on if you’re congruent with them constantly?
Do you think this is bad advice? If so, how?
So how is it you know their not living their values? Do you have a master checklist you use to decide when someone is good enough to post on your forum? Awake enough to your standard?
This feels like a really long way of saying "I know what's right and I don't feel like enough people here mirror what I personally feel is right so get on that"
Gatekeeping is obnoxious even if done with the best of intentions. Not a day passes here where someone doesn't feel the need to make a post explaining who should be on here, how they should post, or how they should behave both on the site and in life. It's just as obnoxious as when YouTube or Twitter does it. Its the same virtue signaling bullshit libs do.
You're making a lot of assumptions here. It's interesting that you came to that conclusion from what I said.
How do you tell when someone isn't living their values? Well, let's take a law enforcement officer for example. A value they should have is justice in regards to the constitution. Some officers don't really understand what this means and will enforce the law as their feelings dictate. Choosing safety over freedom falls in line with this.
Think about people on the far left compared to the far right. Both sides value being kind to others. Both people claim to be good and view the other as bad and they use this to justify not being kind to people on the other side.
I can assure you that the advice above is extremely impactful to improving your life and mental health and building better relationships with others.
