My first knife fight was at Riviera Junior High in Miami in the 80's. The cops that were there quickly stopped it. It was a gang rumble between 4 different gangs at school. I was just trying to go home after school and got roped into the fray. Fun times, really. Walking home every day while wondering if I was gonna be jumped just for being a white boy. By the mid 80's, at least in my area of Miami, white kids were already in the minority in the school system, due to the Mariel Boat Lifts and the loads of Haitians and Dominicans flooding the state back then.
