I worry about a friend in govt for this reason. How easy is it for elected officials to freak out by threats, become afraid, make bad choices and thus be compromised forever?

I was warned several years ago (during Obama) that this high ranking friend was going to make a bad choice, and this person is a total brick - integral, hard-working, and honest as the day is long. But this evil structure....they know how to take down the good ones too. If they could get someone like my friend they can get anyone.
