I wouldn't count on that, that's pretty massive. Smaller objects (meteorites and falling space junk) have made it through reentry quite intact and have fallen to earth. What is most interesting about this story is the nonchalant way China treats such things... "Oh yeah, it might kill someone, sorry about that, but here, buy more Walmart junk and try to get over it."
