My photographer friend said it Could be from a panoramic picture. Still looks weird.

Sorry, I dont know that, I'm not a photographer. I tried postulating that question as well to them because I was trying to rationalize what would cause the wonky pic. I'm familiar with fish eye lenses and thought this was also some kind of lense related pic.
