However, if you really want to test your theory, then put them through a simple test. If they like sports... then turn on a ball game to watch on TV. See if they get nervous or agitated easily by the competition on the screen.
If they like movies, put on some movie that has intensity... something that builds emotion... and see if they over-react to it.
Rational people don't over-react to a horror movie, or an action movie or to a sport on TV. People with irrationality and no emotional control will over-react to the situation.
