Weirdly enough, I find skydiving to be quite relaxing. I freaked my instructors out on one jump where I stayed in the pike position just meditating from 15k down to 6k (I was keeping an eye on my alt meter ;) )
Apparently I was only saved a bollocking because I came out of it into a perfect stable position to release :D
Unstable exits are the best part of jumping out of a plane :)
Yes, it does get a bit nippy! I'm really surprised your instructor did that, I'm glad it all worked out and you enjoyed it.
It's definitely an experience. I decided to do an accelerated freefall course where you train and do your qualifying jumps all in one week.
Towards the end of the week I was running out of time to complete all 10 jumps. On the very last day I broke the DZ record with 7 jumps in one day. After the last jump I literally walked off the field, handed over my chute and jumped into the taxi to the airport :) Besy day ever!
