Think you’ve seen it all? Well you haven’t. Even band-aids are “woke” these days

“Our tone” is quite telling. They should have labeled it “your tone”. Fuck-off Bandaid. I’d rather use Duct-Tape.
Truth: As a 19/20 year old office gopher at Purdue University (1990/1991), I saw a black woman with a glaring flesh tone (white) Band-aid on her leg as I was walking to class one day. When I arrived to the office I worked in b/n classes, I mentioned this detail to the women I worked for/with. I opted to write Johnson & Johnson (pre internet) to suggest offering this very product. They wrote back that they felt their clear bandages covered this "need". I remember commenting to the group that the cotton pad was still white and obvious on those clear Band-Aids...but in the end, we all just laughed at my "I could have been rich" moment. And now, here we are.
I was not a progressive/liberal then, nor am I now; but I saw the opportunity. It was not a preview of a future "woke" me. "Awake"--yes; "woke"--no.
ahhh just a tad late to cash in on some wokeness
side note : awake vs woke -- why is ok to butcher the english language
i guess awake and awakened were already taken by us pepes. =)
Agreed! I hate the terms I find myself using these days just to be understood.
Let's wait this one out guys. Let's see how sales do. This really doesn't bother me as much as "Be Less White". I don't think this is so much "woke" as it is opening up a market for POCs. If it succeeds, great! Although, Bandaids came out with clear several years ago, which should have ended the white skin tone only option. I don't know, this doesn't make me as angry as removing Aunt Jemima or the Indian chick from Land o' Lakes.
Toilet paper will be next
Oh for crying out loud! Let’s just make them green, that would be neutral.
