The way I understand it, they were under fire from the prior events at Ruby Ridge, and funding was threatened. So they needed a boogeyman and demonized the Branch Davidians using basically no evidence for illegal firearm possession. I’m torn because the Davidians didn’t bother anyone, but Koresch was impregnating underage girls.

If you can stomach Netflix they have a show that seems pretty accurate.
