Unions served a purpose at the turn of the century. In modern day. They don’t particularly serve a purpose other then to pay for the Union Execs lavish lifestyles.

Here's how the great Cabal game goes:

Introduce a fiat system (and fractional-reserve counterfeit-inflate to infinity with TBTF cabal-connected banks.
Gradually shift the population into a "wage-slave" dependency by taxing what was previously untaxed (dwellings, travel, etc).
Control unions via communist-fronts.
Control "nationalist" alternatives.
Every generation, arrange either a war or an economic collapse as justification for continued government micromanagement and intelligence-gathering.
