Person moved here in their teens. He is now in his 20s. He really believes Americans are only white people. And he keeps referring to the white people are the ones causing all the problems. I said it's not the Americans it's the government and if the United States government is treating the rest of the world the way they are treating us now then I can see why the rest of the world doesn't like the Americans. Then he changed the subject. Then I came back and asked if we could talk cause I'm highly concerned about this whole white people logic and trying to understand. I'm white just to put that out there. While we were talking the logic never matched up to how white people specifically are the cause of the problems. Then he asked me who lives in America and I kept saying Americans. Then he said but you're white and I pointed out he was brown but he went through the citizenship process. Then he said in his old country it was so dangerous but here the white people are afraid and that's why they pull to the side of the road when an ambulance is passing because they won't get a ticket. I told him that isn't because of fear but out of respect for the ambulance to get to the emergency situation to save a life. I understand the fact he was raised more from a different country but the fact is this country is being influenced to believe what he already believes. When he said I refer to myself as an American he said I lumped myself into the white people. With him being brown I used his same logic and asked him "so if you were a burglarer and robbed a place does that make it a fair judgment to say all brown people steal?" It's sad the critical thinking skills wasn't there. I would stump him and he would just change the subject. It's sad and makes me understand how in critical care the free world needs to be if this is really the last free place on the planet and we are borderline unfree.
