I was behind a car that had a Books not Guns bumper sticker, and all I could think was that if we are not careful we will need guns to protect the printed books. Many do not realize how dangerous the digital world is. How easy is it to change history, and direct searches to "your desired narrative". With the stroke of a key our entire history could be re-written without printed books to protect it. Just like all dystopian stories, books will become more dangerous than guns.

Have you ever read "A Canticle for Liebowitz"?
Yeah, a long time ago. Very cool book, more of a statement of how religions and belief systems evolve, but a lot of dystopian sci-fi too. I loved the way it spanned generations and how fully developed characters lived and died over the span of hundreds of years.
I'm going to read it again
If that person ever read a history book instead of self help books and memoirs of actors maybe they'd understand.
I'll trade him all my books for all of his guns. "Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don't." -- Thomas Jefferson
Very true, I had not heard of Thalidomide until your comment. So that got me to look it up. While it was initially used as a morning sickness relief drug, it caused severe birth defects and death in fetuses. Now, it is approved for Leprosy and cancer treatment. Thanks for the comment, and the knowledge!
