Ok, most of you are not looking beyond the headline. Let me help...
It’s a distraction to the larger story (divorce, stock sell off, ... and maybe, hopefully some upcoming criminal allegations)
The board knew about this all along but kept it buried .... think Hollywood Weinstein, but BigTech. So what happened that forced their vote on this?
Who is pushing this story? Typically these allegations are brought up by the woman, the ‘news’ will push this from her POV with details, etc ... but in this case it’s coming out of nowhere. Very conveniently timed to the current divorce happenings.
This is a carefully timed release. It’s most likely orchestrated by a team of PR, lawyers for and with the express consent and direction of the Microsoft board members (Satya has no power, he’s an installed CEO... remember the Board decides who the CEO is). BillG and his man wife are also part of the plan, all agreed upon (NDA etc). Bill will only comment through approved mouthpieces (spokesperson).
Look at the time the article was published, strategically just minutes before market close (protect stock movement)

This war should’ve made anyone finely tuned to nuances like this.
What you say is 100% correct - but I’ll add something. “Enjoy the show.”
