My husband used to be more awake than I was (my dark beginnings were deep in the liberal hive) but in recent years, his friend circle has become more and more left-leaning, which is rubbing off on him.
We used to agree on everything, but we butt heads more and more nowadays. He voted for Trump, but still thinks Xiden's landslide win was legitimate and that the vaccines are harmless. He argued with me about buying emergency food when food prices started going up, insisting it wasn't necessary. He called the small generator and the solar panel to power it I bought with part of the last simulus check a pointless waste of money. He rolled his eyes when I bought a rifle with the rest of it. It feels like I'm dragging a tantrumy kid around with me while I try to get us better-prepared.
And if nothing happens, and everything goes well, we'll have a ready stock of supplies in case of a natural disaster that we didn't have before, so I don't really see the downside.
