So, we're roadtripping to campsites and exploring some of the western states. Several of our stops take us thru NPS lands.
- Almost every NPS has mask Nazis. One of the places (Zion NP) requires it to board the shuttle, which is the only way to get to much of the parks trails. One of our drivers (who you aren't legally even allowed to talk to, signs posted say) said that he at one time had to wear THREE at one time. This guy, you could tell, was over the mask crap, but they're videoing everything so he was attempting to enforce it. Some weren't as enforceful and could slip below your nose.
One of the people at the boarding station WAS wearing three masks. He was an older guy. He was getting pretty pissed off no one was wearing a mask so got a younger park ranger to come yell about how it's required. He yelled out, "yay!!!!" when she did. BRAINWASHED.

Native American reservations, which we passed thru in NM and AZ are absolutely maskers to the nth degree. We didn't wear them. We were stared at the entire time and definitely were the only ones anywhere without them.
-
Utah, outside of the NP, didn't seem to care.

CO you can definitely tell where the libbies live and where the conservative areas are due to how free you are. There's a pretty heavy lock down in some of these areas. One place, which is out of season, I read required masks OUTDOORS WHILE SNOW SLEDDING. And some idiot was complaining in reviews about it not being fully enforced all the time. I actually love where we stayed, but probably will never be back due to the lack of decency in the town from other things, though (touristy town that has people cursing at our family walking down the street – should work on cleaning that up instead of spreading covid via masks).
Anyway, I'm sick of these stupid masks. It seems a better vacation this year might be Florida or Texas, should you be wanting to do that this year.
People from Ohio to Iowa and north of Tennessee consider themselves Midwest. Everything west of the Mississippi is considered "the west"
Don't give us a bad name, people in the midwest definitely have more that aren't wearing masks than are.
Indiana is in there. We are hit & miss w/ the maskies. Rural areas are over it. The more metro, closer suburbs to Indy are heavily brainwashed. 2 miles south of us 99% masks. 2 miles north of us, 1% masks. It's all so retarded.
Maybe just west? Basically, CO/UT/AZ.
I don't mean to give anyone a bad name – MOST of the places are federal lands or pretty liberal areas. There's been a ton of areas that just completely don't care. There's a lot of great places that didn't care, and I should have highlighted those better.
Yeah, those three states are definitely considered west, even Colorado.
Yeah not a single state mentioned by the OP is remotely close to the Midwest.
I appreciate you sharing this because we were thinking a trip West for Summer vaca would be good but not if all this bs is going on. There are 15 States without mask laws but I’ll bet you named a few. Nothing worse than being outside & some idiot telling you you need a mask. You just have to wonder how stupid they are.
Even tho some didn't have mask mandates (I think only CO and NM has mask mandates), all federal lands required them if you went in lines, buildings, or busses (NPS, national forests, etc). Many people did put masks below nose though. We're coming from a state without mask mandates, and live in conservative city that don't enforce masks anywhere.
Outside of federal lands, most places have been ok if they don't have a state mandate. And then native American lands are a little different, too. One place we've gone to had signs to wear masks, and if you can't for some reason, you must wear a shield. ?
Several places definitely had the mask required stuff ("legally") posted everywhere, but when you open the doors you realize they don't care at all.
We did do that a bit. Places outside of the parks definitely aren't too bad.
