The MAIN reason is it creates an uneditable image of the website the moment you archive it. Magpie17 backs this up with examples of where this has happened (as if you need proof it happens ?).Secondary reasons include not supporting MSM via clicks and, in my belief, avoiding a paper trail for fellow researchers - probably not important, but best practice.
That said, there are a couple links to archive services in these comments. In addition, archive.is and archive.ph are widely used.
Archiving is actually very quick, often someone else has already archived the link and it's immediately available when you try. I do hope you consider it in the future.
