Like I said before, when someone else posted this same list, not all slaves were owned by Democrats. Also, you can't tell which party the slave owners voted for. So that part of the list was made up.
Thanks for a respectful reply.. Just trying to wake the masses is all.. ??
I was taught in school that when you take a true-false test, if the statement says "always" or "never," you should mark it false. The current parties didn't exist throughout the history of slavery in the US, so it would be impossible for all slave owners to be Democrats.
I have Asperger's and must use logic.
Exactly.
George Washington abhorred political parties but after he left office they became a thing. Adams was a Federalist. And then there were the Democrat-Republicans who split into being Whigs and Democrats.
Andrew Jackson is considered to be the first Democrat President of the US. He won the election of 1828. And he served two terms before the Civil War. Abe Lincoln was the first Republican President. (He became one in 1856 before the Civil War, but was a Whig before that). So both current political parties were formed BEFORE the Civil War.
In fact, I am currently reading a book about the Andrew Jackson presidency that was published in the 1960's before the radical left took over our schools, books and classrooms. It is called "The Election of Andrew Jackson" by Robert V. Remini
Kek ! HT to you !
I agree with this logic as records and politics will always be messy in this sense, but wouldn’t it mean that no republicans were slave owners?
Perhaps, but it would also mean that no Dims owned any either. So that line of OP's post is wrong.
I know that a lot of Republicans have voted for Democrat candidates in the past because they seemed to be the better candidate. I also know that many people are registered in one party or the other for many different reasons. I happen to be registered as a Democrat only so I can screw with the primaries. There is never any choice in my state on the Republican side in primaries. Even for president, all the Republicans but one have dropped out by the time I get to vote. But there are usually multiple Dims on the Dim primary ballot. As an example, I voted for Jesse Jackson one time. I knew he couldn't win the general election.
I agree the slave trade was used world wide because it was a "business" around the globe... not just here
Saving this! Thx fren ?
