You got me digging, found out that parental consent isn't required in at least six provinces.

They are:

British Columbia (ages 12+, don't need to inform parents after the fact)
Saskatchewan (ages 12+)
Manitoba (ages 12+)
Ontario (ages 12+, possibly regional)
Quebec (ages 14+)
Nova Scotia (ages 12+)

Can provide stories/articles to back it up if anyone wants.
