So, it’s finally happened... my 100% remote company was just told that, some day in July, we would all be required to come in, at the same time, one day a week.
And now co-workers are asking everyone on Slack about who has been vaccinated and making thinly veiled sarcastic jokes about how they’ll ask everyone to show their papers.
I actually had to remind one of them that he was anti-vaccine back in December and January, before he suddenly flipped (but I’m sure he’s very smart and did not base his opinion solely on what CNN says at any given moment).
Boss hasn’t mandated the vaccine yet, but it’s coming.
I don’t normally post, but I need moral support! The fight has finally come to my door, and now I either need to just quit real soon and find something else, or prepare for how I stand my ground!
I have a similar question I need help with - Santa Clara County, CA issued an order the other day requiring all employers to ask and keep records of the vaccine status of all employees, and follow up every 14 days. I don't live in CA but my company is asking this of everyone across the US. The deadline is a week from now, June 1st.
What do I do? Can I just ignore this and not answer it? Do I have any rights? I'm so afraid right now.
Wow, sounds like your company is a couple steps ahead of mine.
If you think you can get by just ignoring it, or telling them “I’m not vaccinated yet” indefinitely, then I’d go for that.
But, all this stuff takes on a new weight when it’s your own livelihood on the line.
I’m not sure what the answer in your case is, but stand strong and know that you’re not alone!
Keep me updated!
