The SP101 is great in .32 but I would rather have a GP100 in .357
I have the sp101 and gp100, love them both in 357
Never shot a Colt Python eh?
Not necessarily...the small frame .357 will WAIL on your shooting hand and make you regret buying it. Been there, done that.
Sp101 is heavy and shoots well. It is no .22 and no CZ 75 for soft shooting, but the heft reduces recpil well vs its lighter competitors
I admit my experience with the SP101 was some years ago, and after a box of .357 I ran only 38 Special through it. I sold it off to get a high capacity 9mm.
I agree that snub 357 vs full steel 9 like a cz is no comparison. The 9mm cz all steel is like butter, the sp101 is "snappy"
...snappy... and PAINFUL.
Wouldn't really say the best. Maybe the best in terms of quality and affordability combined. But there's better options out there if you're willing to pay a little more. Plenty of options for 8 round 357 magnums these days. If I was going for a 5 round 357 I'd just go for an LCR since it's smaller and lighter. These medium-small frame revolvers are kind of an oddity to me anyway. I hear the 327 Fed Magnum is a stout little round though if you're willing to go out of your way to find ammo for one of these medium-small Ruger revolvers.
Firing the lcr vs sp101 is a world apart. Those 1000 pound all metal rugers fire well. The 38 lcr i shot kicked more than the sp101 by a measurable amount
